JE appeal update 17-7-11

As you will be aware the Joint Trade Unions , UNISON, GMB and UNITE have been meeting management on a weekly basis to try and reach an agreement on job evaluation and single status.

The Joint Trade unions  negotiated an extension to the current deadline for Pay and Grading appeal, in respect of Job evaluation. The new date for  appeals has now been set for the 23rdSeptember 2011, this does include support staff working for The Northumberland Church of England Academy.
Northumberland County Council are also committed to looking at job enrichment over the next two months. This means going back to your manager and looking again at the job description used to assess your role and seeing if it is appropriate. Look at areas that are absent and look, together with your manager, to get the job description revised. This can then be reevaluated to see if it warrants a revised Job Evaluation score.NCC are hoping this will reduce the amount of official appeals.
Anyone that has signed up to the new terms & conditions enclosed with their Job Evaluation letters can still appeal.

The branch have been organising further dates for location meetings to advise members on the appeals process, these were set to start next week. As the deadline has been extended we will now be adjusting these dates and will confirm a programme of events in the very near future.

Northumberland County Council are advising staff to use the councils form to submit a valid appeal, the pro-forma that UNISON produced and sent to members is also a valid process to use in the first instance. When the council receive this form they will send an acknowledgement letter and will then ask for evidence to be provided.

We would encourage members to attend the forth coming roadshows  UNISON will be organising, these will be carried out over the next 3 months and will be an opportunity for you to gain assistance from experienced representatives in respect of your appeal.
